So many remarkable events took place all arond the world on the 18th of February and here you have some remarkable ones among them.

  • 18/2/1879:Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi was granted design patent for the Statue of Liberty.
  • 18/2/1900:Ajax Soccer team was formed in Amsterdam.
  • 9-18/2/1897: The retaliatory Benin Expedition by the British force under Admiral Sir Harry Rawson led to the capture of Benin Empire. The Empire as a result of the invasion lost lots of bronze art works which were looted and relocated to Britain. Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi was also exiled to Calabar.
  • 18/2/1977:A communal compound known as Kalakuta Republic located at 14 Agege Motor road, Idi-Oro, Lagos was burnt to the ground by members of the Nigerian Military
  • 18/2/2014:Ukrainian Revolution began as protesters, riot Police and unknown shooters took part in violent events in the capital Kiev, culminating after 5 days in the ouster of President Viktor Yanukovych.
  • 18/2/1930: The planet Pluto was discovered by Astronomer Clyde Tombaugh. The discovery was made as a result of the photographs taken in January, 1930. Pluto, named after the Roman god of the underworld#
  • 18/2/1988: Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC)  was established in Nigeria.
