The speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly, Acho Ihim, been suspended.
He was suspended by twenty-one out of 27 lawmakers of the assembly on Wednesday.
Ihim was suspended after he had adjourned the ongoing plenary and escaped with the mace after reading a letter announcing the lifting of the suspension slammed on the 27 Local Government chairmen of the 27 LGA of the state the lawmakers last week.
Punch reports that Ihim in a bid to frustrate his colleagues from removing him had to allegedly order his aides to switch off the generating set supplying electricity to the complex but the lawmakers who were visibly embittered with his action spurred to go on with the business of the day.
Trouble had started after the lawmakers raised objection to the letter announcing the lifting of the suspension of the suspended 27 LGA chairmen.
The lawmakers had quoted the order 15 of the house rule which enabled the lawmakers to contribute to it before the speaker rules, but Ihim said that no lawmaker was allowed to contribute to the matter.
The lawmakers were seen putting final touches to the impeachment notices of the time of filing this report.
