As Buhari has dissolved his old cabinet and now working on another list of ministers to appoint for his second tenure in office, there are speculations on certain people who may make it to the list and eventually become Buhari’s minister.

Some of the people who are speculated to work with Buhari as minister in his second term in offices are listed below
  • Akinwumi Ambode (Past Lagos State Governor)
  • Mohammed Bindo (Past Adamawa State Governor)
  • Mohammed Abubakar (Past Bauchi State Governor)
The reason the above three past governors are most likely to make the ministerial list of Buhari is based on the resolve that has been made by the leadership of the ruling party, APC that all the APC governors who lost their re-election into office will automatically be nominated for ministerial posts in their states.
This was however confirmed by the APC Organising Secretary, Adamawa State chapter, Ahmed Lawan. According to him “That is the arrangement; any state where the governor lost, the governor will be given a ministerial slot”.
Although, National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Lanre Issa-Onilu has made a statement concerning President Buhari’s stand saying “I’m not aware of any such instruction from the president. The president will determine his method of selection”
Adding that “There is no method to it, it is about people lobbying by making various claims ; there is no real method.”
Issa-Onilu continued “The state has no specific role in determining who becomes the minister, it is within the prerogative of the president”.
Among those that have speculated ministerial appointments are two former governors from Ogun State who are
  • Ibikunle Amosun and
  • Segun Osoba
Amosun seem to be capitalizing on his relationship with the presidency while Segun Osoba is using his place in the party structure as biding advantage.
